The Green Logistics & Transport Company Award
This award will recognise the most comprehensive programme of actions or initiatives from a logistics and/or transportation company operating in the private sector in Ireland which promote sustainability. Companies that should enter include passenger transport companies, couriers, freight forwarding companies, logistics companies, independent and own account transport operators, among others. If you are a public sector transport organisation, then you will need to enter the Green Public Sector Organisation of the Year award. Entry is by a 5-page A4 PDF submission; the judges will be looking for a clear plan and evidence that it is delivering on core objectives, paying particular attention to the criteria listed below.
- Sustainability Strategy & Integration: Summarise your sustainability strategy and how it aligns with your business model. Explain how it guides decision-making and daily operations.
- Sustainable Operations & Efficiency: Describe key initiatives to reduce environmental impact, such as improving fuel efficiency, cutting emissions, and managing waste. Highlight any innovations in these areas.
- Measurable Outcomes & Environmental Impact: Provide data on the results of your sustainability efforts, including reductions in CO2, fuel use, and waste. Include year-on-year comparisons and any certifications or awards.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration: Explain how you engage stakeholders like employees, customers, and partners in your sustainability efforts. Mention key partnerships and communication strategies.
- Community & Social Responsibility: Discuss how your initiatives benefit the local community and society. Provide examples of projects and partnerships that show your broader social impact.
- Future Goals & Innovation: Outline your future sustainability goals and plans. Highlight any upcoming innovations aimed at further improving your sustainability performance.
- Energy Saving: Provide a background of the sustainability programme including the key team members behind it, the level of senior management buy-in and how it was rolled out across the organisation.
- Sustainability of Operations & Innovative Actions: Describe any relevant training or employee initiatives offered through your organisation, including the levels of staff engagement.
- Waste Minimisation: Describe how the brief was fulfilled in the most sustainable possible manner, including any challenges faced and how the team worked together to overcome them
- Staff Engagement: Summarise the outcomes of the programme, detailing benefits to the environment and the organisation in areas such as fuel and CO2 savings, waste minimisation and recycling and the use of sustainable products. Please include facts and figures to back this up, including any downward trends in annual figures.
