Green Medium Sized Organisation of the Year

This award is open to Medium Sized Organisations (51-250 full time employees) who have implemented a green strategy designed to reduce the impact their organisation makes on the environment as they deliver their products and services. You must explain what you have achieved so far, particularly over the last 12 months, and what you hope to achieve in the future. And we need to see evidence of an overall strategy that sets out your targets and how you plan to achieve them and hard statistics demonstrating year-on-year comparisons. Entry is by a 5-page A4 PDF submission; the judges will be looking for a clear plan and evidence that it is delivering on core objectives, paying particular attention to the criteria listed below.

  • Organisation Background: Briefly describe your organisation, its size, core operations, and how your business model supports sustainability. Highlight key green practices and their alignment with environmental goals.
  • Green Initiatives: Summarise your efforts to manage resources (energy, water, waste) and promote environmental preservation (biodiversity, habitat improvements).
  • Outcomes & Results: Present measurable results of your sustainability efforts with data and examples. Include year-on-year comparisons and explain how your performance stands out based on industry norms and your organisation size.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Communication: Describe how you engage and inform stakeholders about your sustainability efforts. Include strategies for involving employees, customers, and partners, and how you share your progress.
  • Community and Environmental Impact: Explain the benefits of your sustainability efforts to the community and environment. Provide examples of projects and their impact relative to your organisation’s size.
  • Future Sustainability Goals: Outline your future sustainability targets and plans. Describe how these goals will further your efforts and are suitable for your organisation’s size.
  • Recycling & Waste Management: Describe the steps taken to reduce and recycle waste within your organisation.
  • Use of Sustainable Materials: Describe any efforts to engage with “green” suppliers, or to source local, Irish, and sustainable products/materials, to ensure the achievement of your sustainability objectives.
  • Bio-diversity / Improving Natural Habitats: Describe any activities your organisation has recently taken to conserve biodiversity, use biological resources sustainably, improve natural habitats.
  • Energy / Water efficiency: Describe the steps your organisation has taken to improve energy efficiency and/or water efficiency.
  • Sustainable Transport Initiatives: Describe any sustainable transport initiatives your organisation has taken, e.g., to reduce congestion, to green your fleet, or any other any other actions that result in fuel savings, CO2 emission reduction.
  • Community Involvement: Describe how you engage with your community and support the local economy. Include any specific efforts your organisation has made to contribute to its surrounding environment or community.
  • Staff Support: What commitment has been made to staff training and communication of your green initiatives? What is the level of senior management buy in? Does it form a central part of the culture?
  • Energy/Water efficiency: Describe the steps your organisation has taken to improve energy efficiency and/or water efficiency.
